Kitchen Floor Plan Maker: example made from a fictional home

What is a kitchen floor plan?

A kitchen floor plan is a top-down drawing of the cooking space: cabinets, counters, sink, range, fridge, island, and the paths between them. Planloom draws one from a short description. You get thick black walls, door swings and windows, cabinets and appliances in soft colors with light shadows, the room labeled in capitals and the overall dimensions written along two walls.

Use it to compare a galley against an L-shape, test an island, or decide where the fridge goes. The first preview is free and watermarked. Edit the words and generate again to get another kitchen layout, then lift the best one into a 10-second 3D video. Planning the room beside it? Try the living room floor plan page.

The 3D video, beat by beat

0-3s

The furnished plan

The video opens on your furnished kitchen plan seen from straight above, with cabinets, appliances and the island in soft colors.

3-7s

The walls rise

The walls extrude upward from the plan into a 3D model while the camera tilts from the top view to a 45-degree angle. The cabinets, island and appliances stay in place.

7-10s

A gentle glide

The camera glides across the space with soft ambient music. The layout and furniture stay exactly the same; nothing morphs.

Tips for a better kitchen floor plan

Name the layout shape

Galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, one-wall or island. The shape drives where counters and appliances sit.

List the appliances

Fridge, range, dishwasher, microwave, double oven. Appliances you skip may not appear.

Add an island or table

Say island with seating for three, a peninsula or a breakfast table, and how the kitchen opens to the dining area.

Try a few layouts

Each generation places cabinets and appliances differently. Generate several and keep the best flow.

Who uses a kitchen floor plan

Homeowners use it before a remodel to test an island or a new fridge spot. Renters use it to plan storage, designers and contractors use it for quick concepts, and agents use it to show a possible update. It gives you a colored kitchen layout to talk over before you order cabinets.

Typical kitchen sizes and clearances

Use these as conservative starting points, and check local building rules.

- Sizes: a small kitchen is about 8 ft x 10 ft (2.4 m x 3 m), and a family kitchen with an island is often 12 ft x 15 ft (3.7 m x 4.6 m) or more. - Counters: base cabinets are 24 in (61 cm) deep and 36 in (91 cm) high. - Aisles: leave about 42 in (107 cm) between facing counters for one cook, and 48 in (122 cm) for two. - Work triangle: keep each leg between sink, range and fridge at about 4 to 9 ft (1.2 to 2.7 m), with the three legs adding up to 13 to 26 ft (4 to 8 m). - Island: aim for 42 to 48 in (107 to 122 cm) of clearance on all working sides. - Seating: allow about 24 in (60 cm) of counter width per stool, with a 12 in (30 cm) overhang.

Accuracy and limits

A kitchen layout depends on exact cabinet and appliance sizes that the AI reads only from your text. The AI invents a plausible layout from your description, so two runs will not match. The result is a visualization, not a construction drawing, and it does not keep exact dimensions or scale. Check every measurement with a professional before you build or buy. Labels come out in English. There is no DXF or CAD export and no editable vector file; you get an image.

Pricing

Every visitor gets one free preview, watermarked, with no sign-in. After that, each image costs 2 credits and arrives without a watermark at 2K resolution. A 10-second 3D video of the result costs 30 credits, and a failed generation refunds its credits automatically.

Starter is $19.99 per month, or $119 per year (about $9.92 per month), and includes 200 credits per month. Pro is $29.99 per month, or $299 per year (about $24.92 per month), and includes 600 credits per month. Both are monthly subscriptions you can cancel anytime, and credits refresh each month. If you would rather not subscribe, one-time credit packs give you 200 credits for $29.99 or 600 credits for $79.99, valid for 365 days. Sign in with email or Google to buy or use credits.

Frequently asked questions

Is the kitchen floor plan free to try?

Yes. Each person gets one free preview, watermarked and with no sign-in. Watermark-free 2K images and the 3D video use credits.

What should I write in the description?

The room size, the layout shape, the appliances, any island or table and where the door and windows are.

Are the sizes and dimensions accurate?

No. The AI draws a plausible layout from your description and writes overall dimensions on the plan, but it is a visualization, not a construction drawing. It does not keep exact dimensions or scale, so check measurements with a professional before you build or buy.

Can it draw an island or a galley kitchen?

Yes. Name the shape, such as galley, L-shaped or U-shaped, and mention an island or peninsula with the number of seats. The AI will place it if the size allows.

Can I plan an open kitchen and living room?

Yes. Describe the kitchen open to a dining or living area and give one total size. For a dedicated seating plan, use the [living room floor plan](/living-room-floor-plan) page.

How much do credits cost?

Starter is $19.99 per month ($119 per year) for 200 credits per month, and Pro is $29.99 per month ($299 per year) for 600 credits per month. One-time packs, no subscription: 200 credits for $29.99 and 600 for $79.99, valid for 365 days. Each image is 2 credits and the 10-second 3D video is 30. Credits from a failed generation are refunded automatically.

Can I export to DXF, CAD or an editable file?

No. You download a PNG or JPG image. There is no DXF or CAD export and no editable vector file. For a plain black-and-white plan without furniture, try the [AI floor plan generator](/ai-floor-plan-generator).
