What is a restaurant floor plan?
A restaurant floor plan is a top-down drawing of a dining space that shows tables and seats, the bar, the kitchen, restrooms, the entrance and the paths staff and guests take. Planloom draws one from a short description: thick black walls, door swings and windows, tables and equipment in soft colors with light shadows, each zone labeled in capitals and the overall dimensions written along two walls.
Use it to compare a table mix, size a bar or show an investor or a landlord a concept. The first preview is free and watermarked. Edit the words and generate again to get another restaurant layout, then lift your favorite into a 10-second 3D video. Planning a workplace instead? See the office floor plan page.

How to make a restaurant floor plan with AI
- 1
Describe the restaurant
Write the size, the seat count, the table mix, the bar and the kitchen. No upload is needed.
- 2
Generate and compare
Your first preview is free and watermarked, no sign-in needed. Change the size or the furniture list and generate again to compare layouts.
- 3
Download or make the 3D video
Use credits for a watermark-free 2K image, or turn the plan into a 10-second 3D video. Sign in with email or Google to use credits.
The 3D video, beat by beat
0-3s
The furnished plan
The video opens on your furnished restaurant plan seen from straight above, with tables, the bar and the kitchen in soft colors.
3-7s
The walls rise
The walls extrude upward from the plan into a 3D model while the camera tilts from the top view to a 45-degree angle. The tables, bar and kitchen equipment stay in place.
7-10s
A gentle glide
The camera glides across the space with soft ambient music. The layout and furniture stay exactly the same; nothing morphs.
Tips for a better restaurant floor plan
Give the size and seat count
Say 1,800 sq ft and 50 seats. The seat count sets the table mix.
Describe the table mix
Tables for two and four, booths, a bar with a number of stools, a private dining room or a patio.
Name the back of house
Commercial kitchen, pass, dish area, walk-in cooler, restrooms. Say where the entrance and the host stand are.
Try a few layouts
Each generation arranges tables differently. Compare several restaurant layouts and keep the best flow.
Who uses a restaurant floor plan
Aspiring owners use it to picture a concept before signing a lease, and operators use it to test a new table mix or a bar. Brokers and landlords use it to show what a space could become, and designers and students use it for a first concept. It gives you a colored restaurant layout to discuss with a contractor or a lender.
Typical restaurant sizes and clearances
Use these as conservative starting points. Restaurants are covered by health, fire and accessibility codes, so check yours.
- Dining room: plan roughly 12 to 15 sq ft (1.1 to 1.4 m2) per seat, and about 18 to 20 sq ft (1.7 to 1.9 m2) per seat for the whole restaurant including kitchen and restrooms. - Kitchen: often takes about 30 to 40 percent of the total area. - Tables: a table for two is about 24 x 30 in (60 x 76 cm), and a table for four about 30 x 36 in (76 x 91 cm). - Aisles: keep at least 36 in (0.9 m) between chairs, and 42 to 48 in (1.1 to 1.2 m) for main paths and accessible routes. - Bar: allow about 24 in (60 cm) of bar length per stool, with a bar height of about 42 in (107 cm). - Booths: about 42 to 48 in (107 to 122 cm) wide per side.
Accuracy and limits
A restaurant layout depends on exact code and equipment sizes that the AI cannot check, and it may not hit your exact seat count. The AI invents a plausible layout from your description, so two runs will not match. The result is a visualization, not a construction drawing, and it does not keep exact dimensions or scale. Check every measurement with a professional before you build or buy. Labels come out in English. There is no DXF or CAD export and no editable vector file; you get an image.
Pricing
Every visitor gets one free preview, watermarked, with no sign-in. After that, each image costs 2 credits and arrives without a watermark at 2K resolution. A 10-second 3D video of the result costs 30 credits, and a failed generation refunds its credits automatically.
Starter is $19.99 per month, or $119 per year (about $9.92 per month), and includes 200 credits per month. Pro is $29.99 per month, or $299 per year (about $24.92 per month), and includes 600 credits per month. Both are monthly subscriptions you can cancel anytime, and credits refresh each month. If you would rather not subscribe, one-time credit packs give you 200 credits for $29.99 or 600 credits for $79.99, valid for 365 days. Sign in with email or Google to buy or use credits.

Frequently asked questions
Is the restaurant floor plan free to try?
Yes. Each person gets one free preview, watermarked and with no sign-in. Watermark-free 2K images and the 3D video use credits.
What should I write in the description?
The total size, the seat count, the table mix, the bar, the kitchen and restrooms, and where the entrance is.
Are the sizes and dimensions accurate?
No. The AI draws a plausible layout from your description and writes overall dimensions on the plan, but it is a visualization, not a construction drawing. It does not keep exact dimensions or scale, so check measurements with a professional before you build or buy.
Can it draw a bar and a commercial kitchen?
Yes. Mention the bar with its stool count and the kitchen with its main equipment, and give a total size. The AI will place them, but it does not know your local health and fire rules.
Can I compare two table mixes?
Yes. Generate once with more tables for two and once with more for four, then compare the seat counts and flow. For a workspace, try the [office floor plan](/office-floor-plan) tool.
How much do credits cost?
Starter is $19.99 per month ($119 per year) for 200 credits per month, and Pro is $29.99 per month ($299 per year) for 600 credits per month. One-time packs, no subscription: 200 credits for $29.99 and 600 for $79.99, valid for 365 days. Each image is 2 credits and the 10-second 3D video is 30. Credits from a failed generation are refunded automatically.
Can I export to DXF, CAD or an editable file?
No. You download a PNG or JPG image. There is no DXF or CAD export and no editable vector file. For a plain black-and-white plan without furniture, try the [AI floor plan generator](/ai-floor-plan-generator).
Is my restaurant floor plan private?
Yes. Your descriptions and results stay in your private library and are never added to a public feed.
